Mary Sullivan Voytek has been an active participant in the field of contemporary American sculpture for the past 20 years as artist, curator and educator.
Voytek received her BFA from California College of the Arts and her MFA from Rhode Island School of Design, and moved to southwest Florida in (1982). She currently exhibits her studio work in major national and
international venues; and serves as assistant professor of sculpture at Florida Gulf Coast University.
Her hand-forged aluminum sculptures often depict endangered species, and with their soft, fluid surfaces intend to inspire a spiritual and contemplative connection with nature.
In
Mary Voytek's sculpture she tells the story of her personal mythology.
Her art strikes universal cords of remembrance and give us access to feelings
already felt, opening the possibility for a renewal and transformation
of our own mythologies.
